Perhaps head upriver where Cabbage Leaf Palms shade the banks. Pass fishing huts and sub-tropical rainforest. Then at the fishing village of Tamboi enter Broadwater, the first of the lakes.

This is the largest fresh and brackish water system on the New South Wales coast. You'll find sandy, shallow shores, sheltered spots, and safe swimming.

On the oceanside, you'll find "myalls" of pearl white beach on an island-studded sea. Dive operators take you to places like Bubble Cave and Looking Glass.

tracks in the Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens area generally flat, it is ideal
to cycle almost everywhere. Cycling is not permitted on walking
tracks within the Myall Lakes National Park.

Hire a runabout and drift for flathead in the sandy channels of the river. Be at Dark Point's rocky headland at dawn to land tailor and you have the added bonus of a beach sunrise.
You can fish off a pier or join a big game fishing charter and try your luck at yellowfin, mackeral, and marlin. Most are tagged for release after the sport.
